That was Summer
By Xavier
Have you ever felt summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time
When you felt the soft grains of sand
Just flowing through your hand
And the soft breeze cooling you down,
And just laying on your towel, with the warm beaming sun on you?
Remember how the waves crashed over your head
And the salt water got in your eyes?
That was summer.
Remember that time
When you had the dewy grass running through your toes
And just digging your feet into the warm soil
And feeling the slimy worms wriggle over your toes?
Remember how you had a water fight
And you came back inside saturated
And the water was just dripping all over the carpet?
That was summer.
Remember that time
When you bought that ice cold ice-block
And the juice just kept dripping down your hand
And it made it all sticky
And when you had almost finished it
The last bit fell off the stick?
Remember how you were running on the path
And you tripped up
And you grazed yourself
And the bright red blood dripped down your leg?
That was summer.
If you try really hard
Can you remember that time
When you were standing on the beach
And you were watching the sun set
And you felt the last bit of warmth drifts away
Remember how you were beside the camp fire on the beach
And you were roasting marshmellows
And they just oozed in your mouth
That was summer.
