 Room 5 were invited to St Mary's Open Day on Tuesday 25th August. We took part in Food Technology, Drama, Chemistry and Physics sessions in a High School Setting.

Students win tickets to Taranaki Rugby Games

Taranaki Tickets go out to keen fans! By Miss O'B

 Toko School entered a competition with Hotter Engineering to win free tickets to the Taranaki Rugby Teams home matches in New Plymouth. We were successful and placed the five tickets in a draw for all students to win the free tickets.
 Here are the lucky winners Ephraim, Libby, Jayden, MacKenzie and Cody! Enjoy the games guys! Go the Naki!!

LEAD Conference 2015

School Leaders enjoy LEAD conference 2015 by Miss O'B

Toko School sent 18 young leaders to the LEAD Conference in New Plymouth on Friday 7th August.
They were selected from Student Council members, Sports Leaders, Enviro Leaders and students that display leadership qualities.
 They listened and heard from a range of speakers about the benefits of being a leader and how to become a strong and confident young leader. They were simply inspirational!
 The speakers were are follows: Te Whaka Ruapounamu McLeod, Dan Ackerman, Kate Broadmore, Angus White, Zoe Hobbs, Emma Daniels, Felix Webby, Olivia Eaton, Whatu Tangirua, Hamish Phillips and Ayla Hutchinson
All students had a great day and learnt about how to develop, nuture and grow their leadership superpower!!

Weir and Rich Cup in Rugby and Netball Competition 2015

Room 5 wins Weir Cup for Rugby and Rich Cup for Netball

 Room 5 Year 7 & 8 played Ngaere School for the Rich Cup in Netball and the Weir Cup in Rugby at Year 7 & 8 level on Monday 10^th August at Ngaere School and this also doubled as a McLeod Shield Rugby and Hurlstone Netball match.

 The Year 7 & 8 teams won both the Weir Cup Rugby 102-20 and Rich Netball Cup 10-8. 

Congratulations to both teams.

The next Hurlstone Netball game will be held at Toko School against Rahotu on Tuesday 18^th August at 12.00pm. The rugby is just a fun rippa game due to Rahotu not having a competition team.

 Good luck to the netball team. Be great to see you there cheering them on! Go Toko!

Cluster Debating 2015

Year 7 & 8 Win Cluster Debating Competitions 2015 By Miss O'B

 The Rural Cluster Schools Debating Competition was held on Wednesday 1st July. Toko won both debates on ‘Cats make better pets then dogs"’. The Year 8 team Rowan S, Heather and Rowan C faced the Midhirst Schools and the Year 7 Maz, Peyton and Emma faced Ngaere School. Congratulations to both teams on their win!

Methanex Maths 2015

Room 5 have began their Methanex Maths Projects for 2015. They are using google drive and google spreadsheets to collate their work. They are collaborating through sharing on google drive with each other. Here is some of the classroom in action.

The Year 7 & 8 basketball teams had their basketball breakup on Thursday 23rd July. It was a lovely night with a meal at the TET and awards for both teams. Thank you Sherllyn, Helen and Kristen for supporting with the coaching of the teams this year. Here are some photos from the night. 

                          

Mid Winter Swim Prize 2015

Airzone New Plymouth- Mid Winter Swim Prize 2015 By Miss O'B

Room 5 has a blast at Airzone New Plymouth on Friday 24th July. We attended the Airzone as part of the prize for winning the Mid Winter Swim 2015. 

 All the class participated attempting a range of activities such as dodge ball, flying fox and basketball dunk. The day started at Puke Ariki where we looked at the Gallipoli exhibit and explored the museum. We then attempted the Airzone and had lunch provided for us there and to finish the day we went to the Aquatic Centre in New Plymouth where we went hydro-sliding. It was a wonderful prize to win and a great day was enjoyed by all. Thank you bumblebees for winning this for us! 

Jones Cup 2015

Jones Cup 2015 By Miss O'B

Room 5 took part in Jones Cup 2015 on Tuesday 21st July. The netball team did really well to come second in their competition. The two rugby teams also competed well with each other Toko Warriors winning the competition and the Toko Rabbitohs coming in third. A great day had by all.
