Room 5 Camp 2015!
Room 5 Camp 2015! By Miss O'B
Room 5 headed off to camp on Monday 23rd November till Friday 27th November 2015. We headed over to Turangi for camp! We rock climbed, we ccompleted the Tongariro Crossing and some even climbed to the top of Ngauruhoe! We made rations at the Waiouru Army Museum, we played mini putt, we cruised the Huka Falls! We had a go at action Taupo and we swam and hyderslided!
We had so much fun! We just had a ball! Here are some photos of the action on camp! Enjoy! :)

Rowan wins Alf Bayly Award
Rowan wins Alf Bayly Rugby Award By Miss O'B
Rowan Slater - 2015 Alf Bayly Award Recipient
Congratulations to Rowan Slater of Toko School who is the 2015 recipent of the Alf Bayly Trophy.
Rowan was vice captain of the Stratford Under 13 team and captained Toko School to their 5th consecutive McLeod Shield title.
On top of this Rowan captained the Central Ross Brown team and was selected in the tournament team at the Roller Mills Northern Regions Tournament where he was representing the TCRT Taranaki Under 13 team.
The Alf Bayly Trophy which was first presented in 1909, has been won by players including former All Blacks captain Graham Mourie, former All Blacks utitily back Neil Wolfe. Bayly played first-class rugby at just 16 and went on to represent New Zealand between 1893 and 1897.
Congratulations Rowan we are so proud of you!

Lions Speeches 2015
Peyton wins Lions Speech 2015 By Miss O'B
The Lions Senior Speech Competition was held on Tuesday 20th October at the Toko Hall. Toko School did extremely well with Peyton W getting 1st place on his speech about domestic violence and Rowan S got 2nd place with his speech on pranking. Charlie W also took part in the competition with a speech on how to keep his mum happy.The school would like to congratulate both Peyton and Rowan S on their achievements and wish them well for the Regional Competition in Hawera.

Black Sticks Come to Toko School
Black Sticks Women Hockey Players come to Toko School By Miss O'B
On Monday 19th October two black sticks hockey players Petrea Webster (119 caps for the Black Sticks) and Olivia Marry (100 caps for the Black Sticks) came out to visit Toko School as part of the Oceania International Hockey Tournament being held in Stratford.The girls both play striker and shared their wisdom about the game and their experiences with children in a question and answer session and then followed this with a skills session with some of our keen hockey players. A great time was had by all. Here are some of our action photos :)

McLeod Shield 2015
McLeod Shield Victory in 2015 By Miss O'B
Toko School continued it's 5 year unbeaten rein with the McLeod Shield in 2015. We played on Thursday 24th September in the final against St Josephs Opunake at Yarrows Stadium. It was a tough game and we were stoked to come out of it as the winners.We would like to thank Gordon Slater our super coach for coaching us again this year and giving up his time for us we really appreciate it! Taranaki Cross Country 2015
Great Results at Taranaki Cross Country 2015 By Miss O'B
Toko School did really well at the Taranaki Cross Country which was held on the last Wednesday of Term 3 2015 in Hawera. The 9 Year old girls which involved Heidi S, Pascoe W, Alexia M and Hollie E won the team award for coming in in the fastest 4th place. Way to go girls!Heidi S also came in 2nd in her race to win a medal and stand on the podium! An outstanding result!
We had many top 20 finishers and a great day was had by all!

Speechboard 2015
Room 5 take on Speechboard 2015 By Miss O'B
Room 5 will be taking part in New Zealand Speechboard this week. We have been preparing so full on the last few weeks and are looking really forward to the challenge and application of skills Speechboard brings.Here are some of our individual Speechboard boards. We have explored a range of topics we all enjoy learning and speaking about. We all also have a group performance and novel reading to share with the assessor.
Finally in Year 8 we have to do a Social Speech and in Year 7 a telephone conversation. We are really excited about this week! Best of luck to all who are taking part :)

Methanex Maths Quiz Teams 2015
Room 5 takes part in the Methanex Maths Competition 2015 By Miss O'B
Room 5 sent two very clever groups of mathematicians up to New Plymouth Racecourse on Friday 28th August to compete in the Annual Methanex Maths Competition.Maz, Max, Emma and Jazmine represented the Year 7 group and Brittan, Xavier, Thomas and Julia represented the Year 8 group.
They were involved in 30 minutes of non stop mathematical problems to answer over a range of strands. They did really well as they competed against other schools around Taranaki.

Students win tickets to Taranaki Rugby Games
Taranaki Tickets go out to keen fans! By Miss O'B
Toko School entered a competition with Hotter Engineering to win free tickets to the Taranaki Rugby Teams home matches in New Plymouth. We were successful and placed the five tickets in a draw for all students to win the free tickets.Here are the lucky winners Ephraim, Libby, Jayden, MacKenzie and Cody! Enjoy the games guys! Go the Naki!!
